Snowy start to Earlham Men's Soccer Spring Training

by Sam Byrd
2014 Spring Recap:
Delayed by weather for 2 weeks, practice began with Mother Nature still in control (see pictures). Nonetheless, the chance to use the turf at the football stadium proved a godsend again this year. All practices began at 7:30 PM under the lights as we began the process of adapting to the absence of 12 seniors who have played a huge role in our recent success. In the last week we played a home scrimmage against Manchester which ended 1-1 and was successful inasmuch as we got video we can look at (thanks to cameraman Corey Campbell) and no one got injured. We at least have a decent idea about our front 6 for next year. That said, we will certainly be looking forward to playing on a natural surface in the fall. As nice as our playing surface was last year, we've been watching as work proceeds on making it better still.

Alumni news:-Chris Marshall (2013) was named an -alternate for a Fulbright Scholarship. Chris, a history major, presented a proposal to teach English in Thailand. He will hear later this year if he is selected to go.

-Rob Richardson (not the former assistant but the 1988 grad) coached a special needs basketball team to an undefeated season and championship in New York City. Rob departed the financial world via the Teaching Fellows Program and now teaches special ed at an elementary school in Harlem.
